ABOUT US

INCEPTION:


The Association “VEERASAIVARGAL SANGAM” was started in the year 1980, with few members(below twenty). It was registered in the year 1982, with registration No:76/82, having its registered office @ no.5, Beema Sena Garden, Mylapore, Chennai – 4. At present, the total members of the Association is more than 1000(all are life-membership holders). Subscription for the life-membership for the Association is Rs.505.

OBJECTIVE:


The object of the Association, in a nutshell is twofold.
  • To help, to promote, religious activities to our community.
  • To help, to promote & to boost the social/educational upliftment of our members.

    • ACTIVITIES:


  • The executive committee meetings are convened every month and discussed all subjects.
  • The General body meetings are convened twice in a year and an AGM is convened once in a year.
  • Annual day celebration has been conducted every year w/o omission.
  • Every year the accounts of the Association are caused to be audited by a chartered accountant and tabled before the AGM.
  • The Registration of the Association has been renewed and accounts produced to the department, every year w/o fail.

    CELEBRATIONS:


    Every year, Annual day celebration has been conducted. ‘Bazavar vizha’ has also been celebrated along with it.

    LINGADHARANA:

    The association has been doing Lingadharna ceremony to our community people perodically. Our Guru, Big-Mutt Mailam Bommapura Aatheenam Srimath Sivagnana Balaiya Swamigal, Graciously performed Lingatharana not only to our community people but also to all who are interested in our doctrines. Lingatharana ceremony has been done in Chennai as well as outside Chennai. It has been done to hundreds and hundreds of people every year

    HONOURING MERITORIOUS STUDENTS:

    The Association used to honour & encourage the students who scored I, II, III rank marks in the 10th & 12th Public examinations by issuing cash prizes, certificates & Trophies.

    HONOURING COMMUNITY PEOPLE:

    Veerasaiva people, who are scrupulously following Veerasaiva doctrines, who are excelled in walks of life, are honoured by conferring the title “VEERASAIVA SEMMAL” every year.

    FELICITATING:

    The Association also felicitates the scholars, educationists &other persons by awarding shields etc., in the Annual day celebration.

    RELEASING BOOKS:

  • The Association decided to release useful books for our community people.
  • A book ‘VEERASAIVAM’ – containing the doctrines of Veerasaivam written by Dr.Vai.Rathnasabapaty Head of the department of Saivasithantham, Chennai University was released in the year 2017.
  • In the year 2018,'ISHTALINGA POOJA MURAIGAL' was released.
  • In the year 2019,'VEERASAIVARGALIN VAZHVIYAL AGAMA VINAYATRAL MURAIGAL' - which explains the performance of our community rituals was released

    MANA MAALA FOR VEERASAIVAS:

    The Association conducts Mana Maalai wherein the brides & grooms have been introduced in the meetings.Personal discussions has been conducted between parents conducted for suitable selection of life partners. A separate website is being functioned and uploaded all the biodatas about brides and grooms. Website:www.veerasaivargalsangamchennai.com under 'Matrimony' menu.

    ACHIEVEMENTS:

    Among many achievements two important features are worth mentioning here. They are:

    • Inclusion of Jangam community under MBC category Dr.D.Ganapathy B.Sc (Agri) Former President of our Association, accompanied by eminent persons,Dr.Vai,Rathanasabapathy, (Late)Dr.A.Thiruvasagm, A.Arumainathan and a host of Association members represented before the backward commission, headed by Thiru.Ambasankar. The Association got our community included under the MBC category and obtained G.O.,. Accordingly thousands and thousands of our people enjoyed the Government benefits and are still enjoying the benefits.

    • CONSTRUCTION OF ASSOCIATION BUILDING: To our Association thiru Dr.A.Thiruvasagm, Editor of “ Veerasaiva Murasu” (a monthly magazine covering veerasaiva subjects) had donated ½ ground vacant site @ No:1/10 perumal koil main road, Thiru.vee.kaa. Nagar,Thundalam, behind Sri Ramachandra medical college. Porur. To construct a building on the vacant site was an uphill task to the Association. Under the able and dynamic leadership of the President Thiru D.Thiyagarajan,assisted by the Secretary, Thiru Maha.Manivasagam and with the guidance and help of the former president of our Association Thiru Dr.D Ganapathy.B.Sc(Agri) and office bearers, a huge sum of Rs.25/- Lakhs of donation was raised. Construction of building measuring 850 Sqr.Ft Ground Floor, 950 Sqr.Ft First Floor & a small dining with closed Terrace in Second floor was successfully completed.On 31-8-2014 Mailam Bommapuram Aathinam Srila Sri Sivagnana Balaiya Swamigal 20th Peedathipathi has inaugurated the new building. It is left open to the welfare of our community.

    FUTURE ENDEAVOUR OF THE ASSOCIATION

    • To conduct religious classes & also religious tours
    • To establish marriage Bureau Connecting through computer to ease the task of parents of brides &grooms
    • To conduct meetings of parents of brides & grooms at periodical intervals
    • To conduct summer courses to the students for spoken language fluency courses, Bridge courses for computer operation and preparation for entrance & competitive exams.
    • To establish, Educational trust to meet out the needs of poor & Intelligent students.
